We’re working on an important research project to better understand how neurodivergent children and young people experience roads and streets – and we’d be grateful for your support.
We’re asking whether you could help by responding to or sharing our surveys with any relevant individuals, communities or networks. Every response will help us build the evidence needed to improve road safety and create more inclusive journeys.
Emerging evidence suggests that autism, ADHD, dyspraxia and other forms of neurodivergence may influence how children navigate road environments. This research will contribute to local authority policies, school travel planning and future road safety interventions.
The project is funded by the Road Safety Trust and delivered by the Road Safety Foundation in partnership with experts from University College London, the Royal College of Art, neurodivergence specialists, charities and local authorities.
The survey takes around 10–15 minutes to complete.
We would be very grateful if you could respond to the survey(s) yourself, share this webpage or share the message below with any relevant people, communities or networks.

Help shape safer journeys for neurodivergent children 🚦
The Road Safety Foundation is carrying out an important research project to better understand how neurodivergent children of all ages and young people aged 16–24 experience roads and streets.
If you’re a parent or carer of a neurodivergent child or young person, or a neurodivergent young person yourself, we’d love to hear from you. An official diagnosis is not needed to take part.
We’re also looking for parents/carers of neurotypical children and young people, as well as neurotypical young people themselves, to take part for comparison.
The survey takes just 10–15 minutes. Every response will help improve road safety and create more inclusive journeys.
