Tell others
The first and perhaps most important strategy is to communicate with people and tell them about your social anxiety. You cannot assume that someone will know you feel anxious. I have given some tips about how to tell others about your social anxiety in another blog post. Sometimes, for me, the simple act of having told someone that I feel anxious makes me feel less anxious.
