The majority of individuals with autism experience high levels of anxiety on a daily basis, which can have an impact on their quality of life and limit their potential.

The Girl with the Curly Hair feels very strongly, however, that there are lots of ‘little’ things you can do that can make an enormous difference to your overall experience and enjoyment of life – you just need to know what those little things are! This Aspergers Syndrome anxiety book contains that information.

Anxiety is a bit different in autistic people, so therefore, slightly different management strategies and solutions are required. This Aspergers Syndrome anxiety book highlights the way these differences can be tackled.

I am using this book with children who are on the spectrum and their families and it is helping them so much. It is easy to understand, the visuals are very clear. It is empowering and helps children to understand why things are hard at school, for example, and why their worries are so big in certain situations. It helps them to understand that they are wired differently, but they are not defective. I have found it makes people interested in the condition and helps them to understand themselves more. These resources help me to reduce stigma around ASD. I love all of Alis’ books. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge and experience with us.

Alis Rowe is amazing and so inspiring she writes with such truth!
All Alis books help me to understand my condition and how to cope, without Alis books I would feel less alone.

Alis information comes from a real place as Alis has Aspergers.

This book is fantastic – my daughter read it and said ‘That sounds like me!’ which as any parent knows is priceless when your child feels they are the only one feeling overloaded with the world. I will definitely be taking it into school to share as it will be invaluable there – it clearly shows that small challenges/things can overwhelm a child on the spectrum, something not all teachers appreciate. I’d recommend it for those, like me, who struggle to get this across at times – this book clearly spells out the issues in a very factual and clear way. I’d also recommend the webinars that the Curly Hair Project offer – the one for anxiety was wonderful too!

This book is a must if you want to understand more about how a person with aspergers feels and perceives. My son has aspergers and we use this book to help us to relate to how he is feeling and it’s helped a lot The simple style and approach really helps. I recognize a lot of aspergers traits in myself too thanks to the work of @Alis Rowe and before her books I wouldn’t have had the confidence to seek out a diagnosis for myself which I am now attempting to do. Thank you @Alis Rowe

If you have not read Alis Rowe before, you are in for a treat. I have read several books on the topic of Asbergers, and the way that Alis writes is like nothing else. You beleive that she is writing about your loved one. She has such insight but such clarity of words, that these books give such amazing insight. I look forward to the next book in her portfolio – I know that every one will add to my education of Asperger’s, and ultimately create a better understanding of my loved one.

The pictures throughout are very useful as they help make the information easier to understand. The written information is easy to read and not too much to take in at once. The information and tips on how to effectively deal with situations is very useful.

ASD daughter poured over this book and then looked up: ‘daddy, this book is for you too!!’ Curtain anxiety-ignoring dad… The book is written for children/teenagers but I do believe that it can/will appeal to adults too because of its language and design. Not everyone reads thick books with small, small letters in them and this book is quite the opposite. Colours, mindmaps, big letters – everything you need to feel that you just might dare (sic!) dip into the subject. Add to that the girl who so obviously talks about herself and the feeling of it being genuine is there.

Another Fantastic book by Alis, explains everything so clearly. I bought the book to understand a little batter as I have a 14 year old daughter with ASD. My daughter will not read anything about ASD guess because it’s the unknown however she really liked this book and as it has illustrations as well as writing found it very easy to follow.

This is a really practical book. It is written in an accessible way without having to read heavy text to get the advice. It is written by someone who really knows about AS not from a professional.

I bought this for my 12 yr old daughter who struggles with anxiety! She has a diagnosis of Asd, its great that Alis talks about Asd not just Aspergers because it means H can identify with it. Thanks Alis it is a great book, very helpful and I may be buying a few more copies to give the the staff at school!!

Excellent communication on how anxiety feels and manifests itself This very common co-morbidity with all forms of autism spectrum difference in a neurotypical world. This book allows those who are mainly neurotypical to understand some of the difficulty suffered by those on the autism spectrum.

Brilliant book! My 13 year old daughter with ASD has increasingly suffered with anxiety as she is getting older. Very clear and readable, my daughter struggles to verbalise her emotions and Alis’ book has been an invaluable help to us both.

  22. Amazon Customer

A very useful little book to share with anyone who is struggling to “get the problem.” I love Alis Rowe’s simple diagrams and illustrations. A visual can sometimes achieve a penny drop moment where oceans of words have failed.

  23. Amazon Customer

An excellent book for the ASD person and those who live with them. It supports neurotypical people to understand and supports the ASD person to recognise that they are not alone!
Brilliant. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

  24. Amazon Customer

Alis’ book is as useful as all her insights on Asperger’s syndrome. The information is clear, concise and in a visual format which all make it easy to be processed by those on the spectrum and their families.

  25. Amazon Customer

Wonderful book on anxiety for a person suffering from Aspergers and showing the difference between that and anxiety experienced by non Asperger sufferers. Alis’ work is so clear and beautifully expressed. Thank you Alis

  27. Amazon Customer

Such an accessible book with lovely diagrams and pictures to support the text. Really useful strategies for managing anxiety and thinking about how ASD anxiety differs from NT anxiety. I am a speech and language therapist and I think the book is perfect for working with adolescents. I also plan to adapt and use strategies with younger children too.

These books have really helped me, as a parent, understand my teenage daughter who has Asperger’s. I would, and do recommend them to anyone who either has or knows someone with Asperger’s. They have changed how our home ‘works’ by me being able to understand how my daughter processess every day life. Definitely a must read and great to refer back to!! Thank you Alis x

Really helped me under my granddaughter more and how I could adapt to her perspective. Seeing thing from their way of thinking and doing thing gave me a better way of understanding. I can now anticipate some of her reactions in advance and change tactics before things happen. Most grateful for this insight. A must read for anyone who has a relative with a diagnosis of autism
