For me, one of the hardest things about having ASD is that critical need to do my ‘normal’, i.e. to maintain what is my ‘normal’ life. Here is a snapshot of my own daily routine at the time of writing:
Just a brief note: Although I am intrinsically a time keeper and the timings of these tasks are important, they are somewhat flexible. I have learned that life ends up being more manageable for me if I:
- focus on sections of the day (tasks for the morning, tasks for the afternoon, tasks for the evening) rather than strict times
- focus on sequences, i.e. the times can be flexible but the order of the tasks needs to be maintained
Regardless of how exactly it looks, there is still a routine for the day and it is very important to me that this routine is kept to.
